Collection Merchandiser

Privacy policy

The short version

This app does not collect, store or process any personal data about your customers. It reads what sold, never who bought it.

What the app reads from your store

Through Shopify’s Admin API, with your permission, granted at install:

  • Products — titles, prices, cost per item, inventory levels, creation dates, and whether each is active, draft or archived.
  • Collections — titles, which products are in them, and their sort order.
  • Orders — line items only: which product, how many units, and the amount. This is used to work out which products sell.

What the app deliberately does not read

Shopify offers apps optional access to customer names, email addresses, phone numbers and shipping addresses alongside order data. This app requests none of them. They were left unselected when access to protected customer data was declared.

Ranking products by what sells needs quantities and amounts. It does not need to know who placed the order, and so the app never asks.

What is stored, and for how long

On our server:

  • An access token for your store, so the app can work on your behalf. Deleted when you uninstall.
  • Collection snapshots — for each change made, the order your products were in and the sort setting your collection had beforehand. This is what makes undo possible. Kept while the app is installed, and for up to 48 hours afterwards so a reinstall can still undo a change.
  • Your settings — which collections you have asked to keep sorted automatically, and when they last ran.
  • Cached sales totals — units and revenue per product for the last 60 days, held for a few minutes at a time so the app does not re-query your entire order history on every page load.

No customer records of any kind are stored, because none are read.

Deletion

  • When you uninstall, your access token is deleted immediately and automatic sorting stops.
  • 48 hours later, Shopify sends a shop redaction request and everything else belonging to your store is deleted: snapshots, settings and cached totals.
  • If a customer of yours makes a data request or erasure request through Shopify, we receive it and answer truthfully that we hold nothing about them.

Changes to your store

The app changes one thing: the order of products in collections you have explicitly chosen, and — because Shopify requires manual sorting before any custom order — that collection’s sort setting.

It does not change products, prices, inventory, themes or anything else. Every change is recorded and reversible from within the app.

Sub-processors

The app runs on a server operated by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. DNS for this domain is provided by Cloudflare, Inc.; requests to this app are not proxied through Cloudflare and reach the server directly. No store data is sent to any third party for analytics, advertising or any other purpose.
